The research group focuses on cleaner production methods and the separation of chemical substances to benefit health and the environment. Current research interests include lignin chemistry, the chemistry and applications of ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents, and the development of insect-based biorefineries.
Current research project:
We are currently studying the chemical modification and conversion of chitosan and lignin. These two biopolymers have tremendous potential as sources of aromatic compounds, healing materials, and drug delivery systems. Our research particularly focuses on applying sustainable chemistry concepts to these investigations—for example, utilizing novel green reagents and solvents in our processes.
