HKBU researcher wins Young Scientist Award
Dr Kwan Chak-shing, a Senior Research Assistant in the Department of
Chemistry, was recently awarded the Hong Kong Institution of Science
(HKIS)-Towngas Young Scientist Award 2018 in the physical/mathematical
science category.
Dr Kwan also delivered an invited presentation, entitled “Utilisation of
Molecular Switching in Rotaxane for Manipulating Organocatalysis and
Macromolecular Size”, at the HKIS’s 26th Annual Conference in early
December. Through his research, he aims to develop a smart
macromolecular machine which can enhance catalysis efficiency and
controlled drug delivery systems.
Dr Kwan’s research mainly focuses on the design and synthesis of novel supramolecules and their applications.
