Chemistry alumni launch appeal for establishing Dr Mok Man Hung Endowed Chair in Chemistry
About
160 Chemistry alumni attended a dinner held on 25 June co-organised by
Baptist Chemists and the Alumni Affairs Office to celebrate the 60th
anniversary of HKBU as well as to bid farewell to retiring Chemistry
Professor Chan Wing-hong. On the same occasion, a plan to establish the
“Dr Mok Man Hung Endowed Chair in Chemistry” was also announced.
At the dinner, President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Roland Chin
shared the latest development and his vision for HKBU. Baptist Chemists
and the Department of Chemistry each presented a gift to Professor Chan
Wing-hong to thank him for the great contributions he made to the
Department and the University over the past 35 years.
The “Dr Mok Man Hung Endowed Chair in Chemistry” will be set up to
commemorate the late Dr Mok, former Vice-President (Administration) and
Secretary and Head of Chemistry Department, and to advance research
development at the Department of Chemistry and HKBU. The University has
set a goal of raising HK$10 million for setting up the endowment fund
which aims at recruiting and retaining the highest-quality scholar and
financing advanced research. Please click here to learn more about the endowed chair or make a donation online.
