HKBU chemists win overseas lectureship awards
Associate Professors from the
Department of Chemistry won the Asian Core Program and Advanced Research
Network Lectureship awards at the 13th International Conference on
Cutting-Edge Organic Chemistry in Asia. The event was held in Bangkok,
Thailand in early November.
Dr Ken Leung delivered a presentation
entitled “Responsive Rotaxane Dendrimers for Anti-Cancer Drug
Encapsulation and Active Release”. He is invited to deliver a series of
lectures during a one-week visit to Taiwan in 2019. Dr Leung’s research
focuses on the development of macromolecular machines for anti-cancer
drug delivery inside the human body.
Dr Lee Chi-sing delivered his
presentation, which was entitled “Isodon Diterpenoids: Collective
Synthesis and Multilevel Bio-evaluation”. He is invited to deliver a
series of lectures during a one-week visit to South Korea in 2019. Dr
Lee’s research focuses on the synthesis and biological study of natural
products such as plants. It is hoped that its application will speed up
drug production.
