BSc student Miss Lily Li Lee Lee wins Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award

Lily Li, Year 2 student of the our Department, became one of the 25 science undergraduates from local universities this year to each receive an amount of up to HK$150,000 in scholarships from the "Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme 2014". The award recipients will gain an opportunity to further their studies at an overseas institution for a semester in the new academic year, enabling them to enrich their knowledge outside the classroom as well as to broaden their global vision and enhance their learning experience in their fields.

Lily was delighted that the scholarship offers her the opportunity to extend her studies beyond Hong Kong. She chose The University of British Columbia as her exchange institution and will continue her studies in Chemistry in September this year upon approval being granted by the University. She specially thanked Dr Daniel Kwong, Associate Professor of Chemistry, for his guidance and advice in the past years.

The Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme aims to provide recognition to outstanding undergraduates in local universities majoring in the discipline of Sciences, Engineering, Technology and Medicine. Through a series of elite training programmes, the Scheme hopes to nurture talent for the innovation and technology industry. 

Each awardee will be granted a scholarship to visit an overseas or Mainland institution for a short-term attachment or research in order to widen their international exposure. In addition, they will be assigned to a reputable mentor for guidance and advice and have the chance to participate in community activities to promote innovation and technology. Awardees can also choose to take part in an internship in a local technology company or science-related organisation to gain work experience and enhance their market knowledge.
