PhD student, Mr. Leung Ka-ho was the best poster presenter in Analytical Chemistry at the 20th Symposium on Chemistry Postgraduate Research in Hong Kong on 27 April 2013. The title of his presentation is "A luminescent G-quadruplex switch-on probe for the highly selective and tunable detection of cysteine and glutathione". The annual symposium was held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong this year, which attracted over 500 faculty members, research postgraduate students and research staff from six local tertiary institutions.
Ka-ho’s PhD work is being supervised by Dr. Ma Dik-lung, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, and focuses on developing oligonucleotide-based label-free luminescent probe for metal ions and biomolecules. The established assay can potentially enable applications such as in-field study in environment or point-of-care diagnostic in the clinical setting.
